Age discrimination to be made illegal

    02/07/2008

That's one of the claims being made about the Government's Equality Bill, which was announced in a statement on June 26th by Equalities Secretary Harriet Harman. The new legislation is aimed at tackling "harmful" age discrimination and will not affect benefits for older people, such as free bus travel, or companies, such as Club 18-30 holidays and Saga insurers which offer services to specific age groups.

    New bus pass in use

    30/03/2008

The new English National Concessionary Pass comes into use from Tuesday 1st April. If you live in West Yorkshire, you are 60 or over, or disabled, and ordered your pass before the end of January 2008, you should have received it on time through the post. However, Metro Director-General Kieran Preston says 'If your pass hasn't arrived by Tuesday 1 April, don't worry it's on its way and you will still be able to use your existing Metro Senior, Disabled Person's or Blind Person's Permit until it does come,'
