On Infostore you can see details of organisations and services in Leeds who work with older people in a range of different community languages. You can also see and print out a number of documents translated into community languages.

For a list of relevant organisations and documents in your own language, just type - in English - the word ‘Punjabi’ (or the name of the language you are looking for) in the 'Search the site' box at the top right of the screen.

Interpreters

Many organisations will work with you through an interpreter. It is always good to ask for an interpreter, and in some cases insist on this. Some organisations, particularly those which are part of the NHS, do use interpreting and translation services. It is usually the responsibility of the service provider to book an interpreter, but you do need to ask for this in advance. It is not the customer’s responsibility to pay for interpreting.

We have worked with members of the Leeds Older People's Black and Minority Ethnic Communities’ Focus Group to decide which languages to film videos in, and provide the scripts.
