There are also Neighbourhood Network Schemes for all older people in Leeds. There are more than 40 of these small local voluntary organisations across the city. They work to improve the lives of older people and to assist them in accessing everything they might need to lead happy, healthy and independent lives. Some are run by and for specific communities of elders.
The schemes organise classes, trips and holidays, run social activities and exercise groups, give information and advice, and some can offer practical help such as handymen, home security, transport and hospital escorts. Most schemes welcome volunteers, so contact them too if you would like to offer some of your time. Find your local Neighbourhood Network Scheme.
