Anxiety is a normal emotion which everyone feels at times and can help us cope with problems. At its worst you may feel a level of anxiety which can make it difficult for you to leave the house, meet other people, or do other things. You may also be affected physically by sweating a lot, feeling sick, or sleep problems. Such anxiety is a common mental health problem, especially for older people, and you can get help. You may want to have counselling, meet with other people who have bad anxiety, or take medication or complementary therapies . You can also do things yourself such as thinking about or doing anything which relaxes you and doing some exercise if you can. It will probably be helpful to talk with your GP about your anxiety.
