From June 2011 DALES is the new support service for adults living in Leeds who are aged 18+ and are Deaf, Hard of Hearing or Deafblind. It is managed by BID Services, and working together with Sense and Signhealth (and replaces the individual and family support and social work service previously offered by Leeds Centre for Deaf and Blind People/Cohearent Vision)
The DALES service (funded by Leeds City Council's Adult Social Care) aims to provide a community based service to meet the needs of Leeds service users affected by deafness through:-
• Initial and needs led assessments
• Support planning and reviews
• Access to relevant Advocacy Services
• Drop in facilities (Single Point of Access)
• Assistive technology/equipment assessments
• Access to mental health and wellbeing support
• Community development and outreach service
• Support with the personalisation agenda
• Support to access recreation and leisure facilities
• Volunteer/mentoring programmes
