Breaks for carers
Can't find what you're looking for?
If you are a carer and would like a break from your responsibilities for any reason, you may be able to get a respite carer to visit or stay with the person being cared for on a temporary basis.
Alternatively, a respite carer may be able to invite that person into their own homes for a short break, providing a change of scene and enabling you to have a break at home.
This service is free of charge through Adult Social Care (Leeds City Council), and there are other organisations which offer similar schemes.
Caring for someone full time may be exhausting. You may feel you do not need respite care, or you may feel guilty about asking for it, but it may be really important to help you recharge your batteries and be more able to give the kind of care you want to give.
