Many people find counselling extremely helpful. There are many different types of counselling all of which aim to help people think about their lives, how problems are affecting them, and try to help them feel better.
You may want counselling at any stage in your life, but it may be particularly important for you if you are going through anxiety, depression, loneliness or bereavement, or if you or someone close to you has a serious health condition such as cancer.
You may be able to get counselling through the NHS after talking with your GP. There are a number of other organisations which offer counselling, some of which charge.
