Can't find what you're looking for?

Cancer is a disease of the cells of the body. There are different cancers, which affect many different parts of the body. People of any age can get cancer but the risk of getting it grows as we get older. Half of all cancers first appear in people over the age of 70.

It may be devastating news if you are diagnosed with cancer, both for you and for people close to you. Many types of cancer can be cured and even if it cannot be cured, you may be able to carry on your life more or less as normal while living with cancer. It is very important to talk with your doctor about any concerns you have. In most cases you are more likely to recover from cancer if you get treatment early. You and people close to you can get information and support, including counselling, support groups and complementary therapy, from a number of local and national organisations.
