Using 'Search the Site'

You can use the search box to search through everything in the site in one go. ‘Search the site’ is always in the middle of the purple bar at the top right of the page.

Clicking on ‘Search the site’ will open a search box for you to use.  You can use the search box in two different ways:

Look at the cloud of words at the bottom of the box, just click on a word you're interested in to go straight to the information. Check which of the tabs is open at the top of this list (for example, 'Organisations'), the tab you are in is the one that is white. 

Type what you are looking for in the white search box.  Check you have spelt it correctly. Press GO. Check which of the tabs is open at the top of the list. The tab you are in is the one that is white.

Your results

You will get a list of results, usually a mixed list of organisations, useful documents, news and events related to your search. You may have to scroll through several pages to find precisely what you want.

When you find something you want to look at click on the name, which is in colour and bold.

Tip!

Generally the more specific your search is, the fewer results you get and so the less information you will have to scroll through to find exactly what you want, for example you will get fewer results if you type in 'bus timetables' rather than 'travel'

To do a new search

If you want to look for something different just click on ‘search the site’ at the top right of the page again and type your new word into the search box.
